District Pharmacy Manager - Retail

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and operational oversight for multiple pharmacy locations within the assigned district.
  • Drive pharmacy performance through achievement of financial, operational, clinical, customer service, and compliance objectives.
  • Coach, develop, and support Pharmacy Managers and pharmacy teams to ensure consistent execution of company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators including prescription growth, labor management, inventory control, shrink, patient satisfaction, immunization performance, and profitability metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations, company policies, and third-party payer requirements.
  • Partner with Pharmacy Managers to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing pharmacy staff.
  • Support workforce planning, scheduling, succession planning, and employee development initiatives across the district.
  • Collaborate with store leadership and corporate partners to support overall store and pharmacy business objectives.
  • Identify operational opportunities and implement process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency, patient experience, and financial performance.
  • Provide guidance and support related to inventory management, medication safety, controlled substance compliance, and loss prevention initiatives.
  • Lead and support clinical service initiatives including immunizations, medication therapy management, wellness programs, and other patient care services.
  • Conduct regular pharmacy visits and audits to evaluate operational execution, customer service standards, merchandising, and regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to and resolve escalated customer, employee, operational, and regulatory concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support implementation of new pharmacy programs, technologies, workflows, and strategic initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, patient care excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the district.

Job Requirements

  • Education/ Certifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required. Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred. Possession of a valid Pharmacist license, with necessary continuing education to maintain licensure, preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Manager preferred. Minimum of 2 years of multi-unit pharmacy leadership, oversight, or operational management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities: Possess the ability to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results. Possess strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of individuals both in person and over the telephone. Requires analytical ability and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities. Ability to concentrate and effectively manage frequent interruptions. Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
