Job Summary
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, supports the classroom teacher and staff by reinforcing instruction to individuals or small groups of students, assists and supports staff in observing, monitoring and collecting data on behaviors targeted for intervention; performs a variety of specialized learning techniques, communication strategies, and applied behavioral activities or techniques pertaining to the instruction of special education students; assists in modeling the use of positive behavior supports and intervention techniques for other staff; The Behavioral Support Assistant is distinguished from other instructional classifications by the varying locations and sites at which work is performed, the special needs of the population served, emphasis on knowledge of methodologies including, but not limited to, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Picture Communication Systems (PCS), and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-Act).
Requirements & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Three (3) years of experience working in special education with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, behavioral challenges or in a related field
- Valid CA Driver's License
- Valid Minimum Liability Car Insurance
- TB Test Clearance
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
- Pass District Test
- First Aide/CPR certification (will have to provide if selected)

Pay & Schedule
- Pay Range: $21.58 - $41.22 per hour (Classified Salary Schedule: Step 29-36 A-J)
- Length of Work Year: 180 days / 8 hours
