District Employees ONLY Instructional Media Assistant - North Shore Elementary School

About the role

Under direction, plans, coordinates and provides library media services relating to the acquisition, circulation, distribution and recovery of materials, audio-visual equipment and other instructional materials. Processes library/media center materials; performs a wide variety of responsible technical and clerical work providing media services to teachers, administrators, students, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students using the library and provides instructional support to students and staff on the proper use of school and library resources
• Maintains order of books on the shelves
• Enters and/or downloads library data in a computer
• May assist with ordering/buying applications and other resource materials
• Assists teachers, students, parents and other personnel in the operation of computer programs and identification of resource materials to enable optimal utilization of the media center’s materials, instructional programs, resources and equipment
• Assists in the instruction of students and staff on the use of audio visual equipment, mobile electronic devices, resource applications and computers (not repair or advanced troubleshooting)
• Distributes and collects materials (e.g., mobile electronic devices, books, textbooks, media, audio visual equipment, overdue notices, billings) to circulate and provide reference materials and information to students and staff
• Inventories, barcodes, and asset tags (under $500) textbooks, equipment and materials in the library collection to document losses and/or maintain availability of materials for the school site

Requirements

• Education: High School graduation or the equivalent
• Experience: Two (2) years in a school library, public library or media center; OR three (3) years of clerical experience in a school setting
• Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing:
  • Successfully pass District Test
  • Valid California Driver’s License

Pay

Classified Salary Schedule: $25.03 – $38.87 Hourly (Step 34 A–J)
