About the Role
Authors the official court record in a court of limited jurisdiction for District Court traffic and criminal arraignment or civil small claims court proceedings; prepares documents ordered by the court; and performs other duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or process legal forms and documents in court proceedings.
- Maintain the official court record for traffic, criminal arraignment, and civil small claims cases.
- Type and prepare documents as ordered by the court.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- One (1) year of work experience in a court or legal setting, which included the preparation and/or processing of legal forms and documents in court proceedings. Excess experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Ability to type at a rate of 40 net words per minute (proficiency may be evaluated).
- Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition in accordance with state and federal laws (e.g., no misdemeanor or felony domestic violence conviction).
Qualifications
- Education at an accredited college or university in paralegal, legal studies, law, or a closely related field may substitute for specialized experience (15 semester credits = 6 months of experience, up to a maximum of 1 year).
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or a closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of specialized experience.
Pay
Includes a temporary monthly differential of $340.
