Distribution Technician II

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Materials Management Department as a Distribution Technician. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure efficient stocking, replenishment, and organization of supplies and materials throughout the hospital. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs logistics functions, including replenishment of assigned nursing units and patient care areas.
• Stocks unit supply and equipment storage areas and medication rooms on a daily basis; maintains overall organization and cleanliness of the areas.
• Cleans and inspects equipment according to department and hospital guidelines, including use of iPhone and Filemaker applications.
• Checks for expiration dating on supplies and equipment; performs preventative maintenance and removes affected product and equipment as required.
• Assists vendor truck driver with the loading and unloading of supply carts.
• Provides feedback to Inventory Specialist regarding par level adjustments, removal of product, and addition of supplies or equipment via email.
• Performs cart maintenance tasks as needed: replaces/adds labels and bins; reorganizes carts due to par level adjustments or reconfiguring.
• Completes all required documentation (e.g., assignment sheets, checklists, stat room requisitions, expiration date checking, repair or maintenance request tags, return authorization forms, clean supply room auditing checklists, and time sheets) according to department policies and procedures.
• Provides customer service support to end users and staff members regarding product location, delivery, and returns.
• Performs product conversions, adds, and recalls as directed by the Leadership Team.
• Reports discrepancies, problems, or questions to the Leadership Team related to the acquisition and distribution process, such as stock outs and backorders.
• Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and compliance of the office, hallways, and dock.
• Exercises appropriate body mechanics when moving carts; pushes rather than pulls delivery carts when possible. Tags broken carts and notifies supervisor for repair.
• Follows Hospital, JCAHO, and DPH guidelines and procedures.
• Responsible for the receipt and delivery of bulk medications from vendors to the pharmacy or nursing units.
• Accesses medication/supply rooms while performing job duties such as replenishing/replacing linen carts, delivering/removing oxygen tanks, and placing/stocking supply orders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Able to communicate in English.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Keyboarding skills or experience with handheld computer technology preferred.
• Ability to learn internal systems/programs such as PeopleSoft/Workday and Wits System.
• Must possess a positive attitude and ability to use sound reasoning in isolating problems and reaching conclusions.
• 2 years of experience preferred.

Working Conditions

• Standing/walking most of the 8–10 hour shift.
• Lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs. under safe lifting conditions as specified by NIOSH lifting equations.
• Pushing/pulling force: 33 lbs. initial force, 13 lbs. sustained force.

Pay

$17.71 – $25.28/hour.
