Responsibilities
- Maintain day-to-day operations of the regional distribution system.
- Restore outages during emergencies or abnormal conditions with accurate documentation.
- Recommend operational improvements and communicate system events to relevant personnel.
- Provide sound internal and/or external customer service.
- Operate SCADA, EMS, OMS, EDOA, and RDO notifications, radio, and telephone systems.
- Analyze and act promptly on system disturbances to restore normal configurations.
- Perform technical analysis, schedule, and authorize distribution equipment outages and load transfers.
- Create detailed scenarios to identify operating problems caused by contingencies.
- Assign and direct switching activities and work assignments to field personnel.
- Monitor system and weather conditions.
- Coordinate staffing requirements for emergencies.
- Complete training and development to advance to the Regional Distribution System Operator level.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related certification from an ABET accredited institution.
- Equivalent working experience with demonstrated understanding to operate the distribution system (minimum of 4 years of related work experience).
- Knowledge of Transmission and Distribution operation, maintenance, and construction practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment, and tools.
- Effective problem-solving, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills.
- Reading and comprehension skills to interpret switching requests, engineering drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, standards, and procedures.
- Skills in developing, organizing, and analyzing information to create switching orders and recommendations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with customers, supervisors, peers, employees, and contractors.
- Questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and develop relationships.
- Independent judgment on moderately complex projects and assignments.
- Knowledge of specific mainframe and PC applications.
- Ability to remain professional and maintain a calm demeanor in high-stress, high-volume work environments.
- Able to reside within a 60-minute proximity of the reporting location due to job-related requirements.
