Distribution Engineer (PE)
About the role
The position falls within the Distribution Department of the organization. They will design and review overhead and underground distribution lines from 12.5 kV to 34.5 kV. They will engineer and design overhead and underground cable/conduit distribution design work packages associated with new customer construction projects. They will review completed designs and design products to ensure compliance with client quality and consistency standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and review overhead and underground distribution lines from 4 kV to 69 kV
- Develop overhead, URD, re-conductoring and asset replacement projects, and underground cable/conduit work packages
- Develop Point to Point (PtP) testing plans and lead field and office personnel in the field testing
- Career development and training of lower level employees
- Coordinate small design teams as needed in order to develop budgets, prepare scoping documents, design criteria, and project deliverables
- Provide clients with engineering assistance during construction, and be available to attend construction meetings, coordination efforts and community outreach as needed
- Review of completed designs and design products to ensure compliance with client quality and consistency standards
- Lead, facilitate, and coordinate work activities of others within the work group, team, department, or those external to complete substation projects
- Identify and initiate corrective action when substation project objectives are not being met
- Interpret codes and regulations and develop standards for construction projects
- Develop, recommend, and implement plans by establishing goals, objectives, and requirements that include all scheduling, resources, and information for complex engineering
Requirements
- Eight+ years of experience with electric utility distribution design projects
- Eight+ years of experience in overhead, URD, re-conductoring and asset replacement projects, and underground cable/conduit distribution design work package development
- Eight+ years of experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects in urban and rural environments
- PE License is required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET Accredited)
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET Accredited) will count towards years of experience
Qualifications
- Eight+ years of experience with electric utility distribution design projects

- Eight+ years of experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects in urban and rural environments
- PE License is required

Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices
- Experience with distribution line design and engineering
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Tulsa, OK.
