About the role
K&A Power Group is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Distribution Engineer I to join their team in Oakbrook, IL. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors.
Responsibilities
- Perform overhead and underground distribution design for residential and commercial customers on 1 and 3 phase lines
- Create and implement medium and long-term plans for the distribution system, considering load relief, capacity, asset management, and the integration of large-scale distributed energy resources (DER)
- Perform pole loading analysis using Pole Foreman based on the ComEd C-Standards and Design in TED GIS based on the job scope
- Order Bill of Materials in Asset Suite 8 (AS8)
- Generate Joint Work Agreement (JWA) and create Real Estate Engagement Form (REEF) based on the job scope
- Participate in department planning, field/site walkdowns, and attend meetings/conference calls, when required
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and perform assignments independently
- Provide engineer judgments based on extensive research and study of applicable design and construction standards
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- Detailed oriented
- Knowledge in the following software’s: T.E.D, Asset Suite, Cedis, CDOT
- Knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices
- Two or more years of professional engineering experience
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience using AutoCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches and engineering theory
- Detail knowledge of applicable Design and Construction standards, codes, methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise
- Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues
Qualifications
- Knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices
- Experience using AutoCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches and engineering theory
