About the role
Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing complex engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.
Responsibilities
- Support Distribution Automation Circuit Reconfiguration (DACR) that reduce outage times, reduce the number of impacted customers that experience a sustained outage, and isolate the fault, allowing it to be found and repaired quicker.
- In addition, reclosing technology (trip savers) is replacing fuses on PSO’s system, which will reduce sustained outages to end customers.
- The engineers in the group perform arc flash studies for existing customers, motor start studies for potential new load, and deployment of CVR as part of PSO’s Energy Efficiency Rider.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise: Possesses entry-level knowledge and experience in the application of theory to solve well-defined problems or provide analysis, with guidance from higher-level engineers.
- Leadership & Guidance: Coordinates work activities of others as required to resolve routine engineering tasks.
- Planning & Organization Ability: Provides input to routine project planning documents related to scheduling and understands the use of scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts, etc.) for budget and planning activities.
- Problem Solving & Initiative: Actively seeks out information and understanding of engineering problems and solution techniques applicable to area of responsibility.
- Communication: Assists and participates in the preparation of reports and technical papers. Assimilates information and instructions readily. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing and presents ideas clearly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degrees in engineering & engineer technologist titles are expected to be in a program accredited by ABET.
- Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*; Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.
- Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related experience in work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering technology principles; Bachelor's degree in engineering technology* in a program accredited by ABET**.
- Has typically acquired 8 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 6 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is preferred for this position unless approval to waive this requirement is given by the organization's EVP.
- Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.

- Compensation Data Compensation Grade: SP20-008 Compensation Range: $98,993.00 - $151,132.50
Pay
- Engineer Sr (or) Engineering Technologist Sr (Salary 8): $102,000.00-$112,000.00 (USD)
- Engineer Principal (or) Engineering Technologist Principal (Salary Grade 9): $122,000.00-$132,000.00 (USD)
