About the role
Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers in Rhode Island who are passionate about electric utility design engineering. The role involves direct client interaction to ensure high-quality work standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers
- Develop work packages for overhead, underground, rural distribution, and make-ready projects
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget of work assigned
- Conduct functional tasks, planning, and customer follow-up
- Analyze work scopes and adhere to schedules to advocate client priorities
- Implement continuous improvements to workflow processes for efficiency and high-quality standards
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and assess complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments
- Work with local electricians, utility engineers, and town engineers
Requirements
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial fields (or equivalent experience/certifications)
- Demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
- Experience with structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, protective device coordination, and electric demand/fault current calculations
- Ability to provide own reliable transportation for local or regional customer-related travel
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Skills
- Providing estimated costs, developing BOMs, calculating CIAC
- Using design tools such as Pole Foreman, Pull Planner, and Katapult
- Working with work management software and job estimating software
- Using CAD or MicroStation for electrical distribution design

$59,150.00 - $106,925.00
Schedule
This position offers remote-working capabilities, but candidates must be located within a commutable distance of Rhode Island to support local utility customers as needed.
