About the role

In the role of Distribution EIT, we'll count on you to:

  • Work under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling and/or calculations, and prepare design sketches and concept drawings.
  • Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop construction drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.
  • Absorb and assist with preparing cost estimates or specifications.
  • Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
  • Typical designs include electrical layout design, cable heating and sizing analysis, overhead and underground structure design, electrical equipment selection and development of bill of materials.
  • Designs must also consider construction requirements.
  • Occasional short-term travel (typically 1-5 days) may be necessary.
  • Longer term (several weeks) assignments may be required infrequently on project assignments.
  • Work across disciplines within Power Delivery as required to meet dynamic client needs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

2+ years of distribution design experience.

Experience performing aspects associated with overhead and underground electrical distribution system analysis and design, lighting design, distribution field staking, joint-use-field review and design, and knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

Experience with industry software including: CYMCAP, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, Polywater Pull Planner, PLS-CADD, Spida Calc, Pole Foreman, etc.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Some travel may be required.

Preference will be given to local candidates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office
