Distribution Designer I-Sr.

About the role

The Distribution Designer I-Sr. is responsible for managing multiple distribution projects for new residential and commercial businesses. This includes meeting with customers to determine their service needs, designing overhead and underground line extensions, estimating costs, preparing construction drawings, and coordinating construction commitments.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple distribution projects for new residential and commercial businesses.

• Coordinate and lead pre-design and pre-construction meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

• Provide leadership and technical support to local operations and contract compliance with regards to distribution design standards and practices.
• Aid the Right of Way agent with acquiring permits and ROW documents.
• Assist with storm restoration efforts as needed, both locally and out-of-town, leading and/or participating in damage assessment activities.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications vary based on the level of the position:

• Designer I: Requires one of the following – a Bachelor’s degree (any discipline), a 2-year Technical Associates degree, 1 year of Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience, or 2 years of Electric Utility field operational experience (Transmission Line or Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering).
• Designer II: Requires 2 years of Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience and one of the following – a Bachelor’s degree (any discipline), a 2-year Technical Associates degree, 2 additional years of Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience, or 2 years of Electric Utility field operational experience (Transmission Line or Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering).
• Designer III: Requires 4 years of Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience and one of the following – a Bachelor’s degree (any discipline), a 2-year Technical Associates degree, 2 additional years of Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience, or 2 years of Electric Utility field operational experience (Transmission Line or Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering).
• Designer Sr: Requires 6 years of Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience and one of the following – a Bachelor’s degree (any discipline), a 2-year Technical Associates degree, 2 additional years of Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience, or 2 years of Electric Utility field operational experience (Transmission Line or Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering).
