Distribution Courier - Full-time

About the role

The Distribution Courier operates delivery vehicles according to all established laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. This position performs routine inspections and upkeeps on delivery vehicles and communications equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. The Courier follows a predetermined route, along which items and materials are picked up and delivered. This position maintains continuous communications with the department, and maintains appropriate documentation of activities as required.

Responsibilities

• Pickup and delivery of medical supplies; surgical trays and equipment; blood and human specimens; pharmaceutical medications, including chemotherapy drugs; and other materials necessary for the daily operations of the hospitals and health system offices.
• Maintain continuous communications with the department, and maintain appropriate documentation of activities as required.
• Supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
• Handles the blood, specimens, and chemotherapy drugs with risk to exposure of biohazards and chemical hazards.
• May require the ability to load and unload delivery vehicles, and requires frequent bending, lifting, and stooping.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license required.
• Must have the ability to drive and operate non-articulated vehicles up to 21’, delivery van with automatic or manual transmission and motorized as well as hand operated equipment.
