Distribution Center Supervisor
Reports to: Distribution Center Warehouse Manager • FLSA status: Exempt • Location: Elkton, MD
About the Role
The DC Supervisor plans, organizes, and monitors the warehouse, including requisitioning, receiving, storing, stocking, distributing, and transporting a wide variety of materials and supplies. The role ensures smooth and consistent operations so parts and supplies are located and distributed effectively to satisfy customer requirements. This is a working, hands-on position—you’ll be on the floor assisting with daily workload as needed, including operating a Reach Truck.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily activities of the warehouse.
- Analyze operational practices and apply them to daily production requirements.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with business partners, warehouse associates, and management.
- Maintain a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the warehouse mission efficiently.
- Lead a team of employees in a technical, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with an emphasis on process automation.
- Take an active role in warehouse improvement projects and change management.
- Plan and coordinate daily tasks with management.
- Assist with training employees and monitor/evaluate performance of warehouse associates.
- Operate a Reach Truck and assist in accomplishing daily workload as needed.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages warehouse employees and is responsible for their performance management.
Work Environment
- Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
- Physical demands include regular walking, standing, talking, and hearing.
- Frequently required to use hands, handle objects/tools, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Schedule
Day shift, salaried position. Expected to be on-site prior to the start of the shift to set up until work is complete for the day. Monday through Friday.
Pay
Salary range: $65,000 – $75,000, dependent on experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Self-starter able to execute initiatives with minimal guidance and accomplish stated goals.
- Broad working knowledge of distribution center processes and operations.
- Thorough knowledge of RF scanner and WMS systems functionality.
- Ability to train, develop, and provide direction to staff.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a leadership team.
- Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work additional hours/days as needed, particularly during high-volume periods.
- One year of team lead experience.
- Basic Microsoft Office Program experience, including Outlook.
- Operation of forklifts and/or Reach Truck is desired.
