Distribution Center Manager - The Toro Company

Responsibilities
- Own full operational performance of Tomah, WI and Baraboo, WI distribution centers, ensuring achievement of key metrics including on-time shipment, order cycle time, throughput, and shipping accuracy.
- Drive productivity improvements through labor optimization, workflow design, and technology enablement, targeting measurable gains in output per labor hour.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and control adjustments within defined targets, improving reliability of system and physical inventory alignment.
- Ensure effective management of offsite and third-party warehouse operations to meet service and cost objectives.
- Establish and sustain a safety-first culture focused on zero incidents, OSHA compliance, and proactive hazard identification.
- Lead safety performance initiatives that reduce Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and improve overall workplace conditions.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including hazardous material handling, security protocols, and local/state regulations.
- Own and manage operating budgets, delivering performance within or below plan while maintaining service levels.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through Lean methodologies, process redesign, and network optimization.
- Identify and implement state-of-the-art material handling and storage solutions to enhance operational performance.
- Develop and execute capital and operational plans that deliver measurable return on investment through productivity and service improvements.
- Lead and institutionalize Lean principles, including kaizen events, value stream mapping, and waste elimination initiatives.
- Deliver sustained improvements in cycle time, space utilization, and labor productivity.
- Support enterprise initiatives that improve flow from order creation through final delivery, reducing manual touchpoints and rework.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in high-volume warehouse or manufacturing operations. Multi-site responsibility preferred.
- Proven track record of driving measurable improvements in cost, productivity, and service performance.
- Strong strategic planning and analytical capabilities with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence outcomes across the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
- Strong proficiency in enterprise systems, including SAP, warehouse management systems, transportation management systems, and reporting platforms.
- Skills in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Qualifications
- Combination of office and warehouse environment, including exposure to material handling equipment and operational conditions.
- Accountability for teams totaling up to thirty employees across two locations with oversight of significant shipping volumes.
- Availability to respond to operational issues outside standard business hours as needed.
