Job Summary
As a lead engineer, you will define strategies for enterprise-wide on-premise, and cloud computing architecture, driving innovation and efficiency. You will lead projects that shape the future of scalable on-premise, hybrid-cloud and cloud-native systems. A lead systems engineer provides strategic leadership and technical direction for the systems engineering team. This role combines hands-on expertise with project management responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision and strategy for on-premise and cloud-native distributed computing systems.
- Architect hybrid-cloud infrastructure solutions for enterprise-scale applications.
- Lead adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-powered infrastructure optimization.
- Collaborate to develop compliance frameworks for infrastructure security, governance, and regulatory adherence.
- Guide executive decision-making through infrastructure strategy recommendations.
- Oversee complex hybrid-cloud migrations, expansions, and serverless computing transitions.
- Drive automation efforts for cloud-native Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Establish global performance benchmarks for cloud workloads and scalability.
- Define the systems architecture and engineering roadmap and align it with business goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers across multiple projects.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and drive innovation.
- Build strategic vendor relationships and lead procurement processes.
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards.
- Define and lead the infrastructure strategy, including storage, server, and virtualization architecture.
- Oversee enterprise backup and disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Champion Agile delivery practices and continuous improvement within the team.
- Establish and enforce documentation standards and operational procedures.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives and manage vendor relationships.
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Define the strategic roadmap for on-premise infrastructure modernization.
- Oversee enterprise-wide infrastructure audits, compliance, and risk assessments.
- Lead cross-site infrastructure standardization and disaster recovery planning.
- Define and govern enterprise Azure architecture and cloud adoption strategy.
- Lead multi-region deployments and global infrastructure scaling.
- Mentor teams on infrastructure best practices, certifications, and emerging technologies.
- Defines Agile delivery strategy for infrastructure teams and aligns infrastructure roadmaps with enterprise Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe).
- Role model for high-performing engineering teams and positively influences organizational culture and cross-functional collaboration.
- Communicates vision and strategy to executives and stakeholders.
- Prioritizes strategic initiatives and resource allocation and can delegates effectively.
- Champions enterprise documentation practices and knowledge sharing.
- Reviews and approves high-level architecture and policy documents.
- Establishes KPIs and SLAs for infrastructure quality.
- Leads quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or related professional work experience.
- Six years of relevant work experience.
- Prior project delivery certification or extensive delivery experience in Agile, Waterfall, Scrum.
- Expert in virtualization (VMware, KVM), storage (SAN/NAS), and backup systems.
- Proven track record of designing scalable hybrid-cloud solutions for large enterprises.
- Expertise in hybrid and multi-cloud computing and automation strategies.
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence strategic technical decisions.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Extensive experience as a lead technology advisor and ability to mentor team members.
- Expert knowledge of backup tools, DR/BCP and system documentation.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and system administration.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of all ITSM concepts and processes.
- Demonstrated experience of on-premise and Azure-based infrastructure or services.
Qualifications
- Microsoft Azure Certified Administrator.
- Microsoft Azure Certified Architect.
- Advanced vendor product certifications.
Pay
Base Salary Range $100,924.00 - $176,617.00
