Distressed Editor - 6 month FTC

About the role

Every day is different, but here’s an example of the kind of things you’ll work on:

• Set the news agenda on distressed debt investing, restructurings and bankruptcies
• Deliver and edit proprietary news, trend stories and enterprise stories.
• Editing duties include reviewing the sourcing, attribution, evaluating stakeholder responses and undertaking other legal checks.
• Manage a team of reporters and support their professional development.
• Work closely with credit and legal analysts on analytical pieces.
• Collaborate with the 9fin engineering & business team to develop new product features and improve publishing processes.

Requirements

If you are a financial journalist with editing and management experience, with the following attributes, we are interested in hearing from you:

• A strong knowledge of distressed debt investing, corporate restructuring and bankruptcy cases
• Solid news judgment and ability to prioritize news coverage
• Proven editing skills with the ability to turn around copy quickly and concisely, while maintaining a high attention to detail
• Good understanding of Media Law
• Excellent networking and relationship building skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills conveying messages accurately and concisely
• Team player, but also able to work effectively alone (help is always at hand if you need though!)

• Financial & Insurance: Competitive Salary: $168,000-$200,000
• 401(k): 9fin pays 3%, employee contributions are uncapped
