About the role

The Distinguished, Technical Program Manager leads complex, large-scale technology programs by defining goals, managing cross-functional dependencies, and driving end-to-end system solutions. This role requires expertise in program planning, technical design, and stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment and delivery of high-quality outcomes. The position emphasizes risk management, process improvement, and mentoring team members while leveraging data-driven insights to guide decisions. The successful candidate will foster collaboration across multiple teams, streamline workflows, and implement scalable solutions that support business objectives and technology modernization initiatives.

What you'll do

  • Define and manage goals, stage gates, and key deliverables for large-scale, multi-program initiatives with complex dependencies and resource constraints.
  • Lead end-to-end technical program planning, ensuring alignment of strategy, architecture, and delivery across cross-functional teams.
  • Drive continuous process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and accelerate timelines.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, securing commitments and resolving conflicts to maintain program momentum.
  • Oversee risk management, issue resolution, and dynamic prioritization to keep programs on track.
  • Mentor team members on technical design, communication, and program management best practices.
  • Analyze data to inform decisions and optimize program outcomes.

The Marketplace Tech team at Walmart delivers scalable, innovative solutions supporting a vast retail ecosystem. This multidisciplinary group of engineers, architects, and product leaders collaborates to build robust platforms for fulfillment, logistics, and seller experience. Their work spans global supply chain integration, marketplace growth, and customer-focused delivery and returns solutions. Leveraging advanced technology, data insights, and domain expertise, the team ensures Walmart Marketplace remains agile, reliable, and prepared to expand across new business models and markets, driving operational excellence and sustained growth.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 7 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
  • Option 2: 9 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 5 years’ experience in product design.

Additional Compensation

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Stock.

Bellevue, Washington US-11663: The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00 - $312,000.00
Sunnyvale, California US-11789: The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00 - $338,000.00
