Distinguished Machine Learning Engineer, Customer Intelligence and Recommendation

Overview

GEICO is on a multi-year journey to transform the insurance industry with Artificial Intelligence. The Team: The AI Modeling and Research team is part of the AI Org, which is Geico’s strategic investment with the mission to transform Geico into an AI-first company. AI org is led by Vice President, Head of AI. AI Org is in the Technology, Product and AI (TPA) org at Geico. TPA is led by the Chief Technology, Product and AI Officer, who reports to the CEO of Geico.

Purpose

We are looking for a highly experienced Distinguished Engineer who has deep insights into ML modeling for building customer intelligence and recommendation engines. The candidate can lead major technical decisions on how the company can build cutting-edge products powered by industry-leading recommendation technologies. The candidate should build close partnerships with product, engineering, and operations leadership across the company.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy, design, and delivery of recommendation systems for major customer journeys, enabling smart recommendation capabilities for Geico’s businesses.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define technical roadmaps aligned with business goals.
• Architect scalable and reliable model ecosystems for all types of recommendation use cases for major customer journeys.
• Establish and drive best practices in ML modeling, data organization, model management, and observability.
• Help the leadership team mentor and grow a high-performing team of engineers focused on ML modeling for recommendation.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards.
• Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Provide state-of-the-art consultation to the Head of AI and Chief AI Officer regarding recommendation technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI/ML. Advanced degree in Information Retrieval is a plus.
• 15+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML in a production environment.
• 10+ years hands-on expertise in AI/ML for Recommendation.
• Successful leadership experience in leading the technical decisions for teams of size >= 15.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• 5+ years experiences in building cross-functional partnerships with product and business.

Pay

Annual Salary $150,000.00 - $300,000.00. The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
