About the role

Responsible for supervising the work of a line crew and performing the work of a Line Mechanic A. The role involves construction, operation, and maintenance of distribution, overhead, and underground facilities. Activities include planning procedures, directing or supervising assigned crew members, and exercising independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a line crew in the safe construction, maintenance, operation, and retirement of distribution lines, including overhead and underground facilities and related electrical equipment.
• Administer procedures for service restoration and line switching to ensure prompt and reliable service to customers.
• Perform the duties of a Line Mechanic A as needed.
• Assume responsibility for the care and safe use of tools and equipment.
• Direct or perform switching operations; request, make, and accept line clearances.
• Make recommendations for performance evaluations, promotions, demotions, transfers, discipline, leaves of absence, hiring, and dismissal of assigned personnel.
• Mentor and develop line mechanics.
• Understand and apply provisions of the Management Information and Policy Manual and applicable labor agreements.
• Perform all duties safely and in compliance with Company safety policies and rules.
• Promote and enforce the Company's Accident Prevention, Safety, and Health programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience as a qualified Line Mechanic A.
• Leadership experience (leading crews, projects, or initiatives) preferred.
• Must maintain a valid state driver's license and meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Good working knowledge of procedures, practices, methods, standards, codes, and theory relating to assigned facilities and work.
• Thorough working knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair procedures of distribution lines and electrical equipment.
• Ability to interpret prints and manufacturers' drawings.
• Familiarity with Company safety rules and proficiency in resuscitation and first aid as presented in the Company Safety Manual.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise employees, interpret and transmit orders, and give instructions effectively.
• Ability to deal with employees, customers, and the public courteously and tactfully.

Physical demands

Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements exceed those for Medium Work.

This role requires regular overtime and on-call response. Travel, including out-of-town travel, may also be required.

Pay

Compensation range: $98,993 - $128,689 (Grade SP20-008, hourly range: $47.59 - $61.87).
