Dispatcher (Transportation)

Responsibilities

• Dispatches driver schedules/routes for load pick-up and deliveries
• Works with customers and warehouse operations to ensure accurate, timely and efficient operations
• Ensures timely follow-up, resolution and response to any route planning or delivery timing issues
• Maintains and updates the department dispatch/communication log/software
• Reviews, verifies and processes driver delivery paperwork
• Maintains adherence to company safety and sanitation policies and DOT rules and regulations
• Develops and maintains good working relationships with customers and drivers
• Affords assistance with coordinating delivery changes, monitoring on-board computers, log reports and maintenance schedules
• Assists the drivers with questions or issues related to delivery appointments

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field (preferred)
• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Two years of logistics/transportation experience
• Basic knowledge of dispatch operations
• Good written and verbal communication skills and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize and multi-task
• Good problem-solving and follow-up skills
• Working knowledge of logistics operations
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word)
• Basic knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations

Qualifications

• May require occasional lifting and moving of 20 pounds
• May be required to work in a fast-paced environment
