Dispatcher Traffic

About the role

This position coordinates the assignment of over-the-road drivers, trailers, tractors, and/or common carriers with the shipping and transportation of products to external customers to ensure efficient and expedient delivery in a timely manner using established policies and procedures.

The Dispatcher assigns particular loads of product to be delivered within a predetermined timeframe, adhering to Department of Transportation rules and regulations. Daily communication is required with the Traffic Manager, shipping clerks, warehouse employees, department managers, and external customers. The role operates in a normal office environment.

The major challenge is coordinating scheduling orders to meet customer demands on time.

Responsibilities

• Assign loads of product for delivery within set timeframes using established policies and DOT regulations.
• Coordinate daily with Traffic Manager, shipping clerks, warehouse staff, department managers, and external customers.
• Manage last-minute changes in customer orders or production schedules to meet demands.
• Ensure accurate processing of complex customer requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Customer service experience in a manufacturing and/or transportation environment.
• Experience coordinating customer deliveries with production areas and transportation departments.
• Ability to adapt to last-minute changes in orders or schedules.
• Excellent telephone and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office and computer skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations.
