Dispatcher II

Overview

AIT is seeking a Dispatcher II. The position offers flexibility on start time and extra weekend hours, if applicable. The Dispatcher II oversees and documents local shipments, dispatches drivers, performs dock checks, tracks shipments, and coordinates communication between drivers and delivery agents.

Responsibilities

• Routing local freight
• Dispatching drivers
• Performing dock checks
• Tracking shipments
• Working with dock staff to ensure freight movement
• Timely event data entry of shipment milestones into MyAIT & AS400 tracking system – pickup, delivery, obtain proof of delivery
• Providing customer service to identify and meet specific customer needs
• Answering/making customer inquiry calls and addressing customer concerns/complaints
• Assigning driver load planning based on local mapping & appointments accordingly
• Identifying and coordinating the prioritization of rushed/urgent/last minute shipments
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• A team player who works well with others

• A customer service focus – building relationships with both internal and external customers
• A high school diploma/GED equivalency, with an associate degree or equivalent preferred
• 3-5 years in the freight forwarding industry, or relevant customer service/operations experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Previous experience working with AS400 preferred
• Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
• A high attention to details and organization
• Strong geographic and mapping skills
• A sense of direction and coordination to build routes
• Great interpersonal and communication skills with customers, drivers, and co-workers
