Job Summary
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Captures and schedules all outbound loads and coordinates with sales and production.
- Collaborates with SR personnel for proper loading and shipping order setup.
- Coordinates with external freight companies for common carrier shipments.
- Determines transportation modes and selects carriers.
- Negotiates rates and contracts for transportation services.
- Routes orders and dispatches carriers with delivery instructions.
- Affirms compliance with Universal and DOT regulations and procedures.
- Sets delivery appointments and loading times for carriers.
- Answers and resolves supplier and customer transportation issues.
- Documents shortages and investigates causes for compensation or customer resolution.
- Audits and approves freight bills for payment.
- Files claims for lost or damaged inventory and notifies management.
- Takes and acts upon calls for tracing and expediting orders.
- Prepares various reports and correspondence as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in the field or related area, 5 years preferred.
- Working knowledge of standard DOT concepts, regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Basic knowledge on lumber math, lumber grades, and species.
- Potential for additional training or certifications.
Hourly/Salary Pay Range
$50,000 - $100,000 annually dependent on experience.
Bonus/Incentive Pay
- Available for certain job roles, including piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses.
