Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Handle calls for emergency and non-emergency ambulance services in a fast, courteous, and professional manner.
- Obtain all pertinent information needed for service and patient accounts with accuracy being paramount.
- Handle non-emergent requests with accuracy, take messages, and forward callers to other departments when necessary.
- Prioritize service based on the nature of the need and information obtained.
- Operate two-way radio and paging system, dispatch E.M.S. units in both emergency and non-emergency situations, receive, process, and relay all pertinent information from patient to crew, and ensure the safety of the patient and crew.
- Determine what equipment and personnel should be utilized based on information received, consult with immediate manager, shift commander, and/or other management to ensure efficiency, and provide assistance as quickly as possible.
- Utilize prescheduled call information to coordinate scheduled resources for the following day in an effective manner.
- Report information including, but not limited to, daily call statistics, facility use, unit utilization, and transport information to operations and management.
- Be knowledgeable of expectations and Standard Operating Procedures, commit to the highest level of service for both external and internal users, maintain knowledge of the market and facility specifics, and report areas of concern to appropriate members of management, dependent on the nature of the issue.
- Maintain status of all available resources and utilize them in an efficient manner, and obtain information for preventative maintenance.
- Complete daily reports to provide all pertinent information to those individuals replacing them.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
- Good Organizational Skills
