Position Summary

This office and field position dispatches drivers in accordance with contract requirements and in compliance with State and Federal regulations. Coordinate scheduling of trips from inception to completion. This position also is available to perform diversified duties and to work a flexible schedule.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the Krapf vision and mission in all activities.
  • Accept and demonstrate the Krapf Core Values of commitment, open communication, respect and excellent service.
  • Represent Krapf and conduct all activities in a professional, business-like manner.
  • Comply with all Company employee policies, safety policy and substance abuse prevention policy.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and state regulations regarding operation of commercial vehicles.
  • Monitor the daily driver radio communications; provide driver updates, ensure on-time performance, troubleshoot and respond to driver emergencies, breakdowns and need for assistance.
  • Prepare and review driver schedules and assign drivers.
  • Verify that driver work schedules and timesheets accurately reflect work completed.
  • Interact with appropriate personnel regarding equipment, driver hours & customer issues.
  • Respond to issues in a calm, professional manner, with a clear, distinctive and reassuring voice.
  • Troubleshoot driver performance issues and report issues to Operations Manager.
  • Report maintenance issues to Operations Manager and coordinate with shop to minimize down time, as necessary.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager and other dispatchers to ensure division operational objectives are met.
  • Control costs by monitoring driver hours.
  • Handle situations professionally and in a non-confrontational manner.
  • Perform the duties of a ROVER driver when necessary.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2 years in a dynamic dispatch environment preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid commercial driver’s license with a passenger endorsement or willingness to obtain one.
  • Must have a satisfactory motor vehicle record, criminal history record and child abuse history record.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license, physical exam certifications.
  • Able to safely operate commercial vehicles.
  • Excellent communication & customer service skills.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks during peak hours and remain calm and supportive of drivers.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Integrity and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Able to trouble shoot and problem solve and to exercise good judgment.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Average typing skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Vision adequate for computer use and reading, as well as for reading traffic signals and signs, maps and schedules.
  • Hearing adequate for phone use, general traffic conditions, traffic signals, emergency vehicles and monitoring and using vehicle communication equipment.
  • Repetitive use of hands for writing and typing, and repetitive use of hands, arms and legs for operating vehicle controls.
  • RANGE OF MOTION ADEQUATE FOR SAFE OPERATION OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES.
  • To access vehicle emergency exits.
  • To push/pull and load/unload passengers in wheelchairs.
  • To reach overhead & to shoulder height and to push/pull to clear vehicle of ice and snow.
  • To bend and stoop to conduct vehicle inspections and properly secure wheelchairs.
  • To push & pull with up to 40 lbs. of force.

Physical Abilities

  • To lift up to 25 lbs.
