Dishwasher (On-Call)

About the role

The Dishwasher position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, utensils, cookware, and food service areas within a Dining Facility (DFAC). This role supports daily kitchen operations by ensuring a continuous supply of clean and sanitized items in accordance with DFAC procedures, food safety standards, and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

• Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, glassware, pots, and pans using manual or mechanical methods.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized dishwashing and kitchen work area.
• Ensure proper water temperatures and chemical use for sanitation standards.
• Clean kitchen equipment, floors, and surrounding work areas throughout the shift.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Support DFAC operations during exercises or mission-critical events, which may require remaining on-site.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience working in a military dining facility (DFAC) or comparable institutional food service environment is preferred.
• Must satisfactorily complete Food Service Medical Clearance (Tri Service Food Code – TB Med 530).
• Able to obtain and maintain a fully adjudicated Secret Clearance.
• Able to obtain and maintain eligibility to access a U.S. Government worksite.
• Ability to work around food products, including exposure to food allergens may occur during storage, handling, or transport.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Fast-paced commercial kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, sharp tools, and cleaning chemicals; requires adherence to sanitation standards.
• Regular exposure to detergents, degreasers, and sanitizing agents used in commercial dishwashing operations; appropriate PPE is provided and required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, standing, and reaching for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shifts as needed to support mission requirements, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• To meet contractual obligations, employees may be required to remain on-site for extended periods during scheduled exercises or real-world events.
• Work is primarily performed indoors within a commercial kitchen environment and may include exposure to varying temperatures and other operational hazards, with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) provided.

Pay

US Pay Range: $17.75 - $17.75 USD
