About the role
The Dishwasher performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dining Department and is accountable to the Executive Chef. In the absence of the Executive Chef, the Dishwasher is accountable to the Cook.
Responsibilities
- Perform defined work routines using various dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned by the Executive Chef, including removing trays from dining or resident rooms, transporting trays and dishes to the dish room, dishwashing, pot and pan washing, and cleaning.
- Wash dishes, tableware, glasses, and other kitchen and dining room equipment; ensure items are stored in an orderly fashion.
- Wash all pots, pans, and cooking utensils used to prepare meals.
- Assist in cleaning kitchen equipment, food storage areas, and supply areas according to the facility schedule.
- Clean work areas, dining room floor, tables, and chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events; sweep and mop floor at the end of shift.
- Perform duties efficiently to accomplish tasks within allotted time.
- Report supply or equipment needs, damaged fixtures, unsafe or malfunctioning equipment, or conditions conducive to pests to the supervisor.
- Clean equipment and work areas as assigned by the Executive Chef.
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
- Attend scheduled department staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Follow defined safety codes, infection control procedures, and the community’s fire and disaster plans.
- Be knowledgeable of federal, state, and community rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Executive Chef, including assisting with serving and pouring beverages at meals.

- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
- Report any known or suspected violations of policy, regulations, or standards of conduct to appropriate managers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous dietary service experience preferred, ideally in healthcare, hospitality, or senior living.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and organization.
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
