About the role
The Dishwasher helps maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is clean, safe, and sanitary while supporting the mission, vision, and goals of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Assists in clearing and resetting counters or tables at the conclusion of each course.
- Assists residents in the dining area if required.
- Delivers prompt and courteous service.
- Runs dishwashing machine and sets up or breaks down the dishwashing area.
- Maintains infection control standards, updates, and inspects sanitizer and dish machine temperature logs.
- Cleans dishes, kitchen, food preparation equipment, or utensils by hand or using a dishwasher.
- Sorts, rinses, and loads dirty dishes, glassware, tableware, and cooking utensils into racks for washing.
- Sorts and stacks clean dishes and carries them to proper storage areas.
- Rewashes soiled dishes before delivering.
- Changes dishwater in the dish machine every two hours or before washing glasses or tableware.
- Washes pots, pans, and trays by hand.
- Assists cook in serving and plating meals, as well as food preparation when needed.
- Wipes up spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry.
- Sweeps and mops floors, cleans and rolls/unrolls mats.
- Attends training courses and maintains up-to-date monthly, quarterly, and annual training through the designated Learning Management System (LMS).
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the success of the community and the care, comfort, and happiness of residents.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of various kitchen equipment and appliances.
- Maintains a current Food Handler’s card.
- Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
- Relates positively and communicates appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and employees.
- Compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Maintains CPR and/or First Aid Certification as required by State regulation.
- Passes a criminal background and fingerprint check.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read and write.
Physical Qualifications
- Walk/Stand – must be able to continuously walk and stand.
- Environment – must be able to perform work both inside and outside.
- Sit – infrequently.
- Lift – constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11–50 pounds, occasionally 51–100 pounds.
- Carry – constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11–50 pounds, occasionally 51–100 pounds.
- Push – constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11–50 pounds, occasionally 51–100 pounds.
- Climb – must be able to climb stairs on a frequent basis.
- Bend – must be able to bend at the waist, knees, hips, and spine on a frequent basis; may require frequently manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
- Squat – must be able to squat on a frequent basis to reach below the knee, may require lifting of 50 pounds or less.
- Twist or rotate – must be able to twist or rotate occasionally at the trunk, hips, knees, and neck, manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
- Reach – must be able to reach on a frequent basis, occasionally overhead (10 pounds or less) and below waist (25 pounds or more).
