About the Role

Performs a variety of kitchen activities including pot washing, dishwashing, general cleaning duties, and storing food and non-food supplies. Maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of the dish area, kitchen, cafeteria, and loading dock while supporting Quest’s vision of culinary excellence and community nourishment.

Responsibilities

  • Cascade and demonstrate Quest’s vision, values, and founding principles daily.
  • Set up cutting boards, trash cans, mats, dish machines, and pot sinks.
  • Organize pot shelves for consistent storage and easy access by kitchen staff.
  • Wash all soiled kitchen equipment, pots, pans, and small wares following proper sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a system for emptying trash cans as needed and break down cardboard for recycling.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen and pot room floors to prevent slipping accidents.
  • Empty dish machines and pot sinks every two hours or as needed, refilling with clean water and proper chemicals.
  • Maintain high cleanliness standards in the kitchen, pot room, dish machine, mop room, and storage areas, ensuring all areas are swept and mopped at the end of each day.
  • Perform daily and weekly cleaning schedules, ensuring no dirty equipment is left for the next day.
  • Distribute and store clean pots, dishes, and utensils.
  • Record concentration of sanitizing solutions in dish machines and 3-compartment sinks.
  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen according to cleaning schedules and procedures.
  • Keep floor drains clean and free of dirt, grease, and trash.
  • Follow all Quest policies and food safety guidelines.
  • Report to scheduled shifts on time and in complete uniform.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions.
  • Responsible for meeting and maintaining state and local certification requirements (e.g., Food Handler certification).
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a similar role or in the food service industry, particularly in schools or higher education.
