Departmental Objective

Purpose of the Position
Under the direction of the dish room supervisor, performs all functions necessary to keep the serving area supplied with clean, sanitized china and serviceware. The candidate will operate in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards, maintaining area and equipment as directed and assuring that proper procedures are followed to provide clean and sanitary serviceware.

- Ability to follow directions both verbal and written to communicate effectively
- Ability to deal in a courteous and professional manner, while maintaining positive relations with co-workers, faculty, staff, and students
- Ability to stand for long periods where wet processes are used
- Ability to wear protective footwear
- Ability to work in congested work areas
- This position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including nights (until 10pm), weekends, and some holidays
Education Required
High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma.
Additional Considerations
- Previous experience as a dish washer in a high-volume restaurant
- Experience in university/college dining
- Previous experience in a food service operation
Pay
$15.00 to $18.53 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.
Conditions of Employment
- This is an HOURLY position and does NOT entitle the incumbent to Commonwealth of Virginia benefits and is limited to 1500 hours in a 365-day period.
- Selected candidate will be required to attend a 2-Day New Employee Orientation Program.
