About the role

The Disability Supervisor oversees the planning, organizing, and directing of staff responsible for a range of sensitive human resources functions, including disability transactions and related support services. The role involves managing day-to-day unit operations, prioritizing and assigning workloads, reviewing work products for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and timeliness, identifying and resolving issues, assessing training needs, and guiding staff performance and development.

  • Collaborate with control agencies such as the State Controller’s Office (SCO), State Personnel Board (SPB), California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), and other governmental partners

Requirements

This role requires a combination of disability experience and Human Resources personnel and payroll experience. It also demands excellent organizational skills, adaptability, strong written and verbal communication abilities, and thorough research capacity.

Skills

Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and effective communication are essential. Familiarity with laws, rules, and regulations related to SDI, NDI, FMLA, and CFRA is desirable.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $7,172.00 - $8,910.00, with the new hire starting at the minimum salary.

Schedule

This position is currently eligible for teleworking up to one day per week and is required to report in person a minimum of four days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’s Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203.
