Disability Adjudicator I
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the disability trainer, then immediate supervisor, learn the Social Security Administration Disability program; learn to manage a caseload of disability claims, the workflow of case processing and resources available; learn to determine eligibility for disability benefits: verify information then request, obtain and evaluate medical evidence; and prepare written decision.
Research medical and vocational issues; request assistance from in-house medical consultants, vocational specialists, supervisor and case consultant.
Develop interviewing skills for contact with claimants, medical, professional and legal authorities.
Answer inquiries from claimants, representatives, Social Security offices, and others.
Requirements
This position will have access to confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate will be required to ensure the safeguarding and security of all confidential and sensitive information and will be required to complete training, sign acknowledgements, follow all policies and adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining to the safeguarding and security of confidential and sensitive information while employed and after employment ends.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
- Experience in adjudicating Social Security Administration disability claims or administrative experience within an organization that adjudicates Social Security Administration disability claims will substitute for the required bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
