Responsibilities
- Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment and materials using trucks, crawler tractors, shovels, graders and other related equipment.
- Take action to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, workers and falling objects.
- Perform equipment inspections to check for fluid levels, start engines, move throttles, switches and levers.
- Align machine with reference stakes and guidelines, ground or position equipment, following hand signals of other workers.
- Cordinate machine actions with other activities including positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from other crew members.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of linework and surface construction in a GPS bulldozer, as well as be able to 'freehand' operate as well.
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies/procedures.
- Perform job tasks in an outdoor setting which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift to 40 pounds
- Minimum 2 years’ experience running, maneuvering, driving and navigating similar equipment.
- Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
- Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- English and Spanish fluency a plus, but not required
