Join the Long Island City YMCA team and lead our Youth & Family department, overseeing programs for youths, teens, families, and sports both on-site and at off-site locations.
About the role
Provide leadership for a diverse array of initiatives including family gym time, teen development, afterschool programs, summer day camp, and other youth and family programming. Ensure program goals and outcomes are met in compliance with government contracts, manage staff, and build strong community partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of all Youth, Teen, and Family Programs.
- Manage program sites and ensure compliance with government contracts and program goals.
- Manage and train staff to implement Association and program policies for safety and quality.
- Serve as a liaison with school and community partners.
- Build strong program content in education, physical fitness, and cultural awareness.
- Oversee all reporting to the Association Office, funders, and government contracts.
- Develop community partnerships that enhance program content.
- Meet budget goals and operating net for all departments.
- Market programs in the community to achieve enrollment targets, focusing on SACC and summer camp.
- Work with the Board of Managers.
- Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (required).
- Master’s Degree in Education or Social Work (preferred).
- Three (3) to five (5) years of leadership experience supervising youth and family programs.
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive leadership experience supervising youth development and family programs (preferred).
- Knowledge of Youth Development Principles.
- ACA Camp Director trained (preferred).
- Current First Aid/CPR certifications.
- Knowledge of Child Abuse Prevention Training.
- Knowledge of program planning and evaluation.
Schedule
- Must be available to work Monday through Friday.
- Must be available to work two (2) weekends per month (Saturday and/or Sunday).
- Must be available to work evening shifts as scheduled.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule based on operational needs.
