About the role
Under the direction of the VP of Operations, Winemaking & Supply Chain, the Director of Logistics will oversee and optimize all aspects of logistics, supply chain, and distribution to ensure seamless movement of wine from production through customer delivery. This role requires a strategic leader with deep knowledge of transportation, warehousing, regulatory compliance, and global wine distribution, as well as the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact with all customers and internal stakeholders for all matters relating to order fulfillment to ensure customer order entry, tracking, closing, and returns processing meet business needs.
- Execute the winery’s Wholesale (WHS) logistics and supply chain strategy to ensure high on-time delivery (OTD), efficiency, and scalability.
- Develop a plan to execute strategic Direct to Consumer (DTC) logistics to drive efficiencies within the business while collaborating with key third-party logistics partners.
- Serve as site leader for the logistics teams based in Paso Robles, California, and Tucson, Arizona.
- Manage a team and provide hands-on guidance and leadership to support all day-to-day Order Management and Customer Service activities to deliver business results.
- Lead, mentor, and develop logistics team members, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor KPIs and prepare regular performance reports.
- Collaborate with sales teams on resolving issues and seizing opportunities to improve order management processes.
- Conduct meetings with key customers to become a trusted partner who understands their needs and desires.
- Partner with production, sales, and finance teams to align supply chain capabilities with business goals and seasonal demand.
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics across all transportation modes, including CPU, FTL/LTL delivery, parcel, and hospitality transfers.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with transportation providers, 3PLs, and distributors to maintain high service levels and cost control.
- Analyze logistics performance metrics such as trailer dwell time, on-time shipments, freight costs, and carrier performance.
- Collaborate with the Operations Team to manage warehouse operations, including inventory control, storage optimization, and product traceability.
- Ensure accurate inventory tracking and efficient product movement within the internal warehouse through coordinated efforts with the Wine Operations Logistics Manager and team.
- Validate inventory levels at external warehouses through effective communication with external partners and strategic site visits.
- Implement process improvements to streamline product flow, enhance end-to-end visibility, and improve customer service and order-to-cash performance.
- Collaborate with Global Sourcing – Logistics to explore opportunities to leverage carriers and other businesses to drive efficiencies and savings.
- Actively participate in The Wonderful Company – Logistics Committee to flag risks and/or benefits to the business requiring additional follow-through and execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive logistics/supply chain experience, ideally in wine, beverage, or food manufacturing/distribution.
- Leadership experience managing multi-site logistics or distribution operations.
- Strong expertise in ERP, WMS, TMS, and inventory management systems.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, seasonal logistics environment.
- Knowledge of U.S. and international alcohol distribution regulations (preferred).

A successful Wine Logistics Director is a strategic, detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in supply chain management—ideally within the wine, alcohol, or luxury goods sectors. They possess deep knowledge of global logistics, temperature-controlled shipping, and regulatory compliance, including import/export laws and alcohol distribution regulations. Strong leadership and negotiation skills are essential, as they oversee complex networks of vendors, warehouses, and transport partners while ensuring efficient, cost-effective operations. Proficiency in logistics software and ERP systems, along with a solid grasp of data analytics, supports their decision-making. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, solutions-driven, and passionate about wine, with the ability to communicate effectively across international teams and adapt to the unique challenges of the industry.

Pay
Pay Range: $180,000 - $210,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills and experience.
