Director, US Emerging Portfolio Strategy - Neurology

About the role
The Director, US Emerging Portfolio Strategy (Neurology) reports to the Executive Director of US EPS and is responsible for assessing the developing pipeline and external (BD) opportunities in neurology within the US EPS and Corporate Business Office (CBO) team. This role ensures the business is positioned to deliver on its strategy and priorities for emerging neurology products and lifecycle management programs, leading cross-functional project teams through influence and direct collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Conduct US emerging portfolio assessments in neurology, supporting or leading new product planning projects from preclinical to Phase 3.
- Support business development by assessing external in-line and pipeline opportunities across all phases.
- Develop forward-looking strategies, market positioning, and product profiles by synthesizing primary and secondary inputs to inform development and lifecycle plans.
- Collaborate with global teams to provide strategic US market insights, including unmet needs, customer segmentation, target product profiles, market potential, competitive landscape, and risks.
- Create or support market entry plans for potential new assets.
- Proactively incorporate key market developments (scientific and commercial) and competitive landscape changes into assessment updates.
- Incorporate pipeline and lifecycle management strategy into medium- to long-term US strategic plans.
- Contribute to CBO team success by sharing best practices, supporting team offsites, events, and tracking annual goals and budgets.
- Coordinate with the Emerging Portfolio Leader to share learnings and enhance team effectiveness and collaboration.

Requirements
- Undergraduate degree with a focus on business, science, or quantitative fields.
- Graduate or advanced degree (MBA, PhD, or similar) with 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally in strategy consulting, biopharma strategy, business development, or new product planning.
- Understanding of neurology and rare disease markets, with the ability to quickly gain in-depth knowledge of various disease states.
- Strong organizational, managerial, and leadership skills, including influence without formal authority.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in highly matrixed organizations.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, particularly in storytelling and delivering client presentations.
- Proven ability to establish a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork.
- High emotional intelligence (EQ), with experience influencing and gaining consensus across multiple functions.
- Comfort working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with adaptability.
- Professional confidence and ability to engage with all levels of the organization, especially senior leaders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with experience preparing research and data analysis to support business recommendations.
Schedule
- Boston-area onsite, 2–3 days per week in the office.
- Travel: 10% of the time for global meetings (Paris), external conferences, and internal off-sites.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $200,000–$240,000. An employee’s pay position within the range will be based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business needs. Eligible for Short-Term and Long-Term incentive programs.
