Major Responsibilities

  • Lead the university-wide goals for international enrollment.
  • Develop and lead strategic international recruitment plan for international enrollment and ensure its implementation university-wide.
  • Oversee sponsored student recruitment and liaison with sponsoring organizations.
  • Work in close alignment with Center for Global Programs and Services (CGPS) to support the University’s global strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the international recruitment staff for graduate and undergraduate admissions, the English Language Institute, as well as faculty and staff recruiting for specific programs with international partners.
  • Lead the development of strategies to identify regions, institutions of higher education and other organizations where successful partnerships can be developed in keeping with University of Delaware’s mission and priorities.
  • Develop recommendations and oversee adherence to approved policy guidelines for establishing international affiliations, programs and partnerships.
  • Advise deans, directors, staff and faculty on marketplace issues affecting international recruitment and enrollment.
  • Serve as a consultant to campus and the wider community on international recruitment activities and resources.
  • Raise the University’s profile as a leader in innovative international programming.
  • Expand partnerships with non-US institutions of higher education and other organizations.
  • Create a steady flow of high-quality international enrollment at a variety of levels (Undergraduate, Graduate, ELI, 2+2, 4+1, etc.).
  • Cultivate relationships and agreements with strategically chosen community college partners in the US.
  • Generate a reliable pipeline of incoming transfer international students.
  • Manage and support existing relationships and partnerships in collaboration with the Colleges and other units.
  • Work closely with Alumni Relations to foster relationships and expand support for recruitment efforts among international alumni.
  • Develop, coordinate and maintain an inventory of international resources for the university through which maximum international representation of the University and collaborative programs can be developed and extended.
  • Oversee administrative processes; develop and manage program budgets and program staff.
  • Serve as primary contact and reviewer for enrollment and recruitment related contracts – at undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree levels, including ELI.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with six years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience at a leadership level in international education preferred.
  • Strong skills in communication and organization.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative settings with an international community of individuals from a variety of ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ethical values and professional and personal integrity.
  • Experience developing and implementing international recruitment strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage successfully in collaboration with international institutions and other international organizations.
  • Understanding of the laws, regulations and accreditation expectations that govern higher education outside the US.
  • Progressively responsible professional/administrative experience in planning, budget, supervision and program development.
  • Ability to travel outside the US for purposes of student recruitment, partnership development and maintenance and assurance of program quality.
  • Creative skills necessary to market and promote international programs internally and externally.
  • Experience living, working and/or studying in other countries preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the college level in courses/programs with an international emphasis preferred.
  • Fluency in one or more modern languages in addition to English preferred.
  • Experience in developing and delivering academic programs outside the US with non-US partners in higher education preferred.
