Director, UCC & Tax Lien Compliance

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Director, UCC & Tax Lien Compliance to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space. This role will lead the buildout of a robust compliance program focused on UCC filings, tax liens, levies, bankruptcies, and garnishments. The Director will establish the policies, governance, and operational controls needed to support a scalable and well-documented compliance function. This position partners closely with Legal, Risk, and other cross-functional teams to manage escalations, strengthen oversight, and improve process discipline. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Pay

$190,000 – $304,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a comprehensive state-by-state policy framework for compliance.
• Establish governance structures, including SOPs and quality review processes.
• Determine and implement tools for effective compliance management.
• Oversee the transition plan for insourcing compliance functions from third-party partners.
• Manage escalations for complex cases in collaboration with Legal and Risk teams.
• Define and track operational KPIs, reporting progress to stakeholders.
• Lead the development of a dedicated oversight team for liens and levies compliance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with UCC and tax liens, levies, bankruptcies, and garnishments.
• Proven experience developing compliance management programs for regulated functions.
• Strong background in managing complex escalations with customers and creditors.
• Deep expertise in legal and regulatory compliance for liens and levies.
• Demonstrated ability to build operational models and governance structures from scratch.
• Proficient in cross-functional leadership, aligning multiple departments toward common goals.
• Excellent communication skills for translating complex legal nuances into clear guidance.
