Director Technology

About the role

The Director Technology role involves providing strategic leadership and oversight for technology roadmaps, collaborating with senior leaders and peers to develop and execute business strategies, engaging with customers and business partners to align roadmaps, leading a team of technology professionals to achieve product development goals, overseeing the optimization, implementation, and execution of technology roadmaps, providing technical support to business development teams, driving innovation and continuous improvement initiatives, and monitoring and reporting on the performance of technology initiatives and projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement technology roadmaps that align with business strategies and objectives.
• Work with senior leaders and peers to develop and execute business strategies.
• Engage with customers and business partners to align technology roadmaps and foster collaborative relationships.
• Lead and manage a team of technology professionals to achieve product development goals and objectives.
• Oversee the optimization, implementation, and execution of technology roadmaps to ensure smooth product development and commercialization.
• Provide technical support to business development teams to win new business opportunities.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the technology team.
• Monitor and report on the performance of technology initiatives and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field of study.
• 13+ years of experience in technology management or a related field within the Aerospace and Defense industry.
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of one or more of the following disciplines: strategic planning, business development, capture management, science and engineering programs, acquisition processes, technical roadmaps, exportable technologies.
• Relevant technical certifications and understanding of industry standards including MIL Standards, DOD Architecture Framework, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), and Modular Open Systems Approach/Sensor Open System Architecture (MOSA/SOSA) open architecture standards.
• Hands-on experience with agile and DevOps practices for technology development and deployment.
• Previous management experience; ability to recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee staffing development and maintenance.
• Demonstrated passion for ideation and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose.
• Possess a strategic mindset, linking technology and business.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms; ability to tailor conversations to adapt to technical vs. non-technical audiences.
• Extensive experience developing technology and IRaD (Research and Development) roadmaps, and seeing them through to completion.
• An Active Top Secret with SCI Eligibility U.S. Security Clearance is required.

• A Master's degree or higher in an Engineering or similar field of study.
• Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and understand complex technical and program interdependencies.
• Relevant technical certifications and understanding of industry standards including MIL Standards, DOD Architecture Framework, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), and Modular Open Systems Approach/Sensor Open System Architecture (MOSA/SOSA) open architecture standards.

• Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets.

• Able to work in an office or hybrid environment, adapting to flexible work arrangements.
• Strong mental acuity to analyze and synthesize complex technical and strategic information.
• Able to communicate effectively and present information to C-suite executives and stakeholders.

Compensation

The estimated starting salary range is $210,124.21 - $288,920.79. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The company offers an annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
