Responsibilities
- Define and lead comprehensive US international and global tax strategies aligned with business objectives, minimizing liabilities and optimizing cash flow — including advising on M&A, new market entry, and structuring of global investments
- Serve as the senior advisor on intercompany transactions, ensuring US and international compliance and tax efficiency in cross-border arrangements, including ownership of global transfer pricing policies and strategy
- Lead research and provide authoritative analysis on complex US international tax matters, including Pillar II, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, and inbound and outbound transactions
- Own the quarterly and annual income tax provision process as the senior subject matter expert for US international tax under ASC 740
- Build and manage relationships with third-party service providers, and serve as a strategic partner to Lyft's finance, accounting, product, engineering, HR, and legal teams to ensure all tax requirements are met
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, development, and collaboration
- Anticipate and adapt to shifting regulatory landscapes and business priorities; proactively identify and communicate tax risk and opportunity to senior leadership
- Monitor and assess tax law changes impacting Lyft's business, analyzing legislation, leading scenario modeling, and translating complex tax matters into clear guidance for executive stakeholders
Requirements
- Experience 12+ years of progressive corporate income tax experience, with a strong focus on tax planning for multinational corporations with operations in EMEA and APAC
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing tax professionals and cross-functional initiatives at scale
- Deep expertise in US international tax and transfer pricing principles and their application to technology businesses
- Proven track record developing tax forecasts and building sophisticated tax models to support strategic decision-making
- Strong technical knowledge of ASC 740 and ASC 450
- Established ability to cultivate executive-level relationships and communicate complex tax matters clearly to all levels of the organization
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex tax topics for non-tax business partners
- Strong attention to detail with an unwavering commitment to accuracy and compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite; experience with accounting systems are a plus
Qualifications
- CPA, JD, or LLM in Taxation
- Combined Big 4 or law firm and technology industry experience
- Accounting system experience (Oracle or similar ERP)
