Tax Compliance
- Oversee timely and accurate preparation and filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns for both corporate and partnership entities
- Oversee withholding tax compliance, manage preparation and filing of Forms 1042 and 1042-S, and ensure compliance with applicable Chapter 3 and FATCA requirements, including documentation (e.g., Forms W-8/W-9) and withholding determinations
- Manage sales and use tax compliance, including registrations, filings, exemption certificate processes, and audit support
- Manage property tax compliance, including renditions, assessments, appeals, and coordination with external advisors
- Ensure compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations across all jurisdictions, and maintain standardized processes, controls, and documentation to support compliance and audit readiness
Tax Provision & Reporting
- Lead the preparation and review of income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740, ensure accurate accounting for current and deferred taxes, including valuation allowances and uncertain tax positions
- Cook with accounting team to support financial close and reporting requirements
- Review tax disclosures and footnotes for financial statements, and support external auditors by providing documentation and responding to inquiries related to tax provision
- Oversee intercompany tax sharing and allocation methodologies, ensuring appropriate allocation of tax expense, benefits, and cash taxes across legal entities
Tax Strategy & Planning
- Provide technical analysis, and develop and implement tax-efficient structures and strategies for M&A, project finance, and partnership
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential impacts to the organization
- Identify and maximize opportunities related to tax credits, incentives, and other tax attributes
- Proactively identify tax risks and develop mitigation strategies
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with accounting, treasury, legal, project finance and project development/operations teams to support business initiatives
- Provide guidance on tax implications of contracts, transactions, and operational decisions
- Communicate tax matters effectively to senior leadership and non-tax stakeholders on tax implications of business decisions, financing arrangements, project acquisitions, and divestitures.
- Supervise and review work of internal staff and external service providers to maintain high-quality deliverables
- Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability within the tax function
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field;
- 10+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or industry
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations, including corporate and partnership taxation
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740 tax provision and financial reporting
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Able to cope with pressure, multi-tasking and comfortable working in a fast-moving and dynamic environment
- Licensed CPA is a plus
- Experience with Tax Equity, flip partnership and ITC/PTC structuring, is a plus
- Experience with Mexico tax compliance (VAT and CIT), is a plus
- Bilingual (English and Korean), a plus
Compensation
$200,000 - $240,000 salary
