Director, Sustainability Tech Lead

Our IT delivery and support systems are continuously evolving to match our entrepreneurial pace, meeting evolving global regulatory, corporate compliance requirements, and consumer needs. The candidate in this role will collaborate with our business quality, safety and environmental (QSE), and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) teams to roadmap desired system functionality and deliver scalable capabilities.

About the Role

The Director, Sustainability Tech Lead serves as a strategic bridge between sustainability, business, and technology teams, translating environmental and social goals into scalable, data-driven technology capabilities. This role defines the sustainability technology roadmap, governs architecture and data standards, and ensures systems comply with our Microsoft Azure cloud ecosystem and evolving regulatory and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will have end-to-end architectural responsibility for systems within the sustainability technology stack and will work closely with other technical architects to transform comprehensive integrated solutions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate business understanding of Sustainability and experience with QSE & ESG platforms (e.g., SAP SFM, Enablon).
• Engage with stakeholders to establish strong partnerships and build business relationships, including leading highly productive teams.
• Work with Enablon or Enterprise Sustainability or related carbon management solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business strategy and define business architecture, including capability maps, value streams, and roadmaps.
• Act as Technical Product Manager, leading the project team that develops and implements the vision and strategy for enterprise sustainability technology solutions (e.g., SAP SFM, Enablon) across our Microsoft enterprise platform.
• Define strategic sustainability capabilities, technical architectures, and data integration patterns to support automated carbon accounting, ESG reporting, and supply chain transparency.
• Provide architectural guidance to IT client engagement leads for sustainability teams.
• Propose, develop, and execute proof of concepts for new technologies that could result in differentiating capabilities.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technology concepts, vendors, and products, as well as manage vendor relationships.
• Lead vendor assessments, security reviews, and compliance audits, ensuring compatibility and integration within the broader ecosystem.
• Define objectives, coordinate with vendors, and lead execution of Proof of Concepts (POCs) and test & learn pilots to investigate issues, accelerate learning, and confirm feasibility.
• Understand business needs, define solutions, produce design artifacts with required functions, interfaces, and detailed technical architecture, including system, sub-system, and component designs.
• Develop solution alternatives, schedule and cost estimates, proposals, and Statements of Work (SOWs) for approval.
• Create and deliver presentations to senior leadership in support of technology strategy, investments, and initiatives.
• Lead and facilitate business process modeling sessions to develop, assess, streamline, redesign, and optimize processes and workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• 5+ years’ experience with Azure cloud services, Data Lake, Fabric, or full-stack application development, and product operating model delivery.
• IT architecture experience with architectural oversight or managing DevOps models.
• Develop, test, and deploy app functionalities according to project specifications and development standards.
• Experience working on Sustainability platforms such as SAP SFM, Enablon, or other platforms (preferred).
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Experience in setting architectural direction and a successful track record of delivering strategic solutions.
• Ability to translate business and user requirements into scalable technical solutions that enhance product differentiation, improve quality, and drive successful delivery.

Pay

Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The pay range for this role in the United States of America is 171,000 USD - 198,000 USD. Annual Incentive reference value is a market-based competitive value for your role, set at 30% of the midpoint of the range, indicating performance at target. Long-term Incentive reference value ranges from 0% to 20%.
