About the Role
The Director, Supplier Development & Quality leads PROENERGY’s global supplier quality and supplier development strategy, ensuring a world-class supply base capable of supporting production, aftermarket services, new product introduction (NPI), and long-term business growth. This role is accountable for supplier qualification, manufacturing readiness, performance management, quality systems, risk mitigation, second-source development, and continuous improvement across the global supply network.
Working closely with Strategic Sourcing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Planning, this leader ensures suppliers consistently deliver excellence in Quality, Delivery, and Operational Performance while upholding PROENERGY’s commitment to integrity, accountability, and partnership. The role is critical to fostering a quality-first culture, accelerating supplier capability development, reducing supply chain risk, and enabling successful production and NPI execution.
Work locations include Greenville, SC; Houston, TX; Leawood, KS; Sedalia, MO; or remote within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute PROENERGY’s global Supplier Quality strategy.
- Lead the Supplier Quality Engineering organization.
- Establish standardized supplier quality processes, procedures, and governance.
- Drive supplier compliance with customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements.
- Ensure consistent execution of supplier qualification, validation, and approval processes.
- Develop supplier quality metrics and executive reporting.
- Own the supplier capability assessment process for existing and prospective suppliers.
- Identify and close manufacturing capability gaps through structured development plans.
- Build supplier improvement roadmaps focused on quality, capacity, productivity, and delivery.
- Lead supplier recovery efforts for critical suppliers.
- Own supplier quality execution across all NPI programs.
- Ensure supplier manufacturing readiness prior to production release.
- Lead supplier process validation and qualification activities.
- Establish supplier quality gates and readiness milestones.
- Develop and manage supplier scorecards.
- Lead Development and Quality business reviews with strategic suppliers.
- Drive proactive supplier risk management processes.
- Partner with Strategic Sourcing to reduce supply chain risk and single-source exposure.
- Lead implementation of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and Process Capability methodologies.
- Drive scrap reduction, yield improvement, cycle-time reduction, delivery improvement, and cost optimization.
- Ensure timely and sustainable closure of supplier corrective actions.
- Lead and develop Supplier Quality Engineers and Supplier Development Engineers.
- Build organizational capability through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and talent development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related technical field.
- Experience supporting industrial gas turbines, power generation, rotating equipment, aerospace, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, or Supply Chain leadership.
- 5+ years leading technical teams.
- Ability to travel globally (25–40%).
- Fluency in English with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
- US work authorization (no visa sponsorship provided).
- Must pass State and Federal criminal history/security background check and pre-employment drug screen.
