About the role

The Director of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is responsible for leading a department that ensures all aspects of the student experience are accessible, equitable, and inclusive. The role involves providing leadership and vision for a broadly collaborative department serving a diverse student population of over 10,000 students.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all aspects of the student experience are accessible, equitable, and inclusive.
  • Provide leadership and vision for a broadly collaborative department that serves a diverse student population of over 10,000 students.
  • Collaborate with hundreds of faculty and staff regarding curricular and environmental accessibility.
  • Modernize SAS data management and systems administration.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of updated data management tools to improve data integrity and streamline the interactive process.
  • Reduce delays between initial requests and final determinations, ensuring timely care and mitigating institutional risk.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts and develop evidence-based policies and protocols.
  • Translate federal/state regulations into clear, actionable University protocols and provide high-level interpretation for faculty and senior leadership.
  • Exercise a high degree of discretion, diplomacy, and sophisticated problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Rehabilitation counseling, Disability Services, Higher education, Educational Psychology or a related discipline is required.
  • At least 7 years of demonstrated supervisory and management experience in a highly volume, highly-engaged department.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with postsecondary students with disabilities in a higher education or similar setting.
  • Deep knowledge of Section 504, the ADA, and the Fair Housing Act as well as pertinent federal, state, and local laws.
  • Proven facility with administrative data collection, summation, and reporting.
  • Experience managing disability-specific database systems and familiarity with an array of assistive technologies.
  • Strong policy-related expertise, including the ability to draft, interpret, and implement complex institutional policies.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to exercise a high degree of discretion, diplomacy, and sophisticated problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated commitment to success in a vibrant multicultural environment with a critical understanding of social justice issues in both student and workplace settings.
  • Experience in fiscal management and the oversight of multifaceted operational services (e.g., accessible transportation, vendor coordination).
  • Experienced, sophisticated and sensitive problem solving capability.

Qualifications
