Director, Strategy & Special Projects
About the role
The Payor Partnerships team manages an $8B revenue portfolio and a high-growth national value-based care business that encompasses more than $5B of medical spend. The Strategy function within this team sets the long-term vision and drives disruptive thinking on payor relationships and contract negotiations. This role requires shaping the direction of the strategy function and managing a portfolio of strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Shape the direction of the strategy function, translating complex, ambiguous problems into actionable frameworks.
- Exercise end-to-end ownership for a portfolio of strategic work, including planning, execution, and delivery.
- Manage project teams of managers and analysts; coach, mentor, and train more junior members of our team.
- Create high-quality presentations with clear strategic recommendations for senior leaders, including C-suite executives.
- Independently structure and lead analytics to support strategic decision-making.
- Work cross-functionally with leaders across lanes to deliver on goals, exerting influence without formal authority.
- Proactively align resources with priorities and consistently remove barriers to team and project success.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, with a track record of progressive responsibility.
- Experience in healthcare strategy within a top-tier consulting firm or provider, payor, or healthcare services organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to bring structure to complex, ambiguous questions, demonstrating end-to-end ownership of workstreams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver clear recommendations and influence decision-makers at all levels.
- Highly proficient in PowerPoint and Excel.
- High degree of ownership, accountability, and a “get stuff done” mindset.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working across functions and teams to drive results.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, feedback-rich environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to determine appropriate level of analytical rigor needed to answer a strategic question.
- Comfortable challenging the status quo, introducing fresh perspectives, and participating in productive debate.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred, but not required.

Pay & Benefits
