Director, Strategy & Corporate Development
About the role
The Director, Strategy & Corporate Development at Project Management Institute, Inc. is responsible for leading the strategic planning process and corporate development activities to support strategy development, approval, and execution. This includes overseeing the strategic planning process, coordinating the execution of strategic initiatives or corporate development transactions, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, operational strategy, and market needs.
Responsibilities
- Leading the strategic planning process and activities
- Partnering with department leaders to coordinate successful execution of strategic initiatives or corporate development transactions
- Supporting continued alignment between groups
- Providing guidance and support for business market planning for operations
- Oversight of competitive and industry analysis
- Developing and implementing analytical frameworks to identify, prioritize, structure, and solve complex business problems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, or other relevant field. MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in roles with a heavy focus on financial or strategic analytics, including strategy, strategic/financial planning, or financial decision support roles (e.g. brand, supply chain, customer/sales).
- Prior experience and success in high-quality strategy consulting firms, investment banks, or corporate strategy or corporate development teams. Experience in strategic planning practice a strong plus.
- Documented first-hand experience in strategy development and business plan development and resulting positive impact on revenue, market penetration, and/or preferred customer outcomes.
- Experience executing and integrating acquisitions, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, etc.
- Experience of working and leading in an agile, dynamic, and customer-centric environment.
- Exceptional ability to think 'stakeholder'; proactively engage with a broad set of stakeholders to understand issues and jointly-develop solutions through collaboration. Ability to bring broad discussions to closure and action.
- Strong ability to manage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts.
- Travel up to 20% of the role.
- Expertise in negotiating terms of mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
- Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated ability working with customers, volunteer leaders and external organizations from diverse cultures and backgrounds with a track record of positive relationships with material outcomes.
- Ability to oversee and execute multiple projects, teams, and individuals with a proactive and adaptive mindset.
