About the role
The Director, Strategic Sourcing-Chemicals oversees the Category Management function and the Procurement organization, focusing on raw material needs for Select Chemistry. Key responsibilities include leading the team in achieving significant cost reductions, aligning procurement processes, and ensuring supplier compliance and quality.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direct oversight of the Category Management function and Procurement team.
- Develop and implement commodity strategies and establish strategic supplier relationships.
- Routinely monitor supply contract compliance and manage supplier development/relationships.
- Drive improvement of procurement efficiency and effectiveness throughout the company.
- Stay current with market trends and identify new technologies and solutions for assigned spend areas.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Lead cross-functional negotiating teams targeting key spend categories.
- Collaborate effectively across different organizational levels, functions, businesses, and geographies.
- Support Select Chemistry's safety culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Significant experience in a global procurement organization or chemical manufacturing operations.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing with a focus on cost reduction and supplier relationship management.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Effective analytical and negotiation abilities.
- Experience with complex MRP systems.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Supply Chain Management/Business/Chemical Engineering or related field required.
- Strong knowledge of chemistry and chemical markets.
- Significant exposure to chemical operations.
- Well-defined understanding of the seven steps of strategic sourcing.
- Comfort/familiarity with presenting, organizing communications, and developing business cases.
- Experience with Petrochemical industry or oilfield/energy related experience preferred.
- Experience working in a chemical manufacturing organization preferred.
- Preferred experience in a chemical manufacturing organization.

Pay

Schedule
Monday – Sunday, overtime as required (24hr business operations).
