As Director, Statistical Programming, you will provide technical leadership to portfolio delivery and be accountable for high-quality, efficient Statistical Programming delivery. As Cluster Head, you will proactively create and implement delivery strategies to enable seamless project execution. You will be a key decision maker across indication/disease area execution and delivery strategies, identifying risks and implementing effective mitigations for all Statistical Programming deliverables. This role includes functional management responsibilities, such as setting objectives, managing performance, providing coaching, and supporting recruitment and retention efforts.
Responsibilities
- Leads statistical programming activities across an indication/disease area, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Leads recruitment and retention strategies for Statistical Programming in collaboration with leadership, HR, and Talent Acquisition teams.
- Develops and implements indication/disease area-level strategies for Statistical Programming.
- Sets tasks and prioritization across the indication/disease area.
- Engages cross-functionally to progress tasks with proven influencing skills.
- Leads process improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement.
- Maintains an influential internal and external presence on varied statistical programming topics.
- Provides comprehensive programming leadership and support to complex clinical project teams and vendors, including deployment of programming strategies, standards, and specifications to comply with regulatory requirements, SOPs, and work practices.
- Guides the development and implementation of innovative strategies and technologies for clinical trial programming at the program level.
- Serves as a member of the Extended Statistical Programming Leadership Team, contributing to the vision and growth of the function.
- Challenges the status quo, as appropriate, and executes process changes to drive efficiency in Statistical Programming.
Requirements
- MS with ~10+ years of industry-related experience, or BS with ~12+ years of industry-related experience.
- Proven track record of leading business process transformations and organizational culture change, as well as driving programming expertise on programs with complex deliverables.
- Proven track record of attracting and retaining talent.
- Operational experience in pharmaceutical drug development with significant direct exposure to clinical development.
- Healthcare business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
- Proficient knowledge of the drug development process, clinical trial methodology, regulatory guidance, industry standards, statistical concepts, and medical terminology used in the analysis and submission of clinical data.
Pay
Starting compensation ranges for this full-time role are as follows:
- Cambridge Crossing: $242,560 - $293,921
- Madison - Giralda - NJ: $216,570 - $262,434
- Princeton - NJ: $216,570 - $262,434
Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate accounts for required skills, job location, work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience.

Schedule
BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This role may be:
- Site-essential: Requires 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility.
- Site-by-design: Eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. Onsite presence is considered essential for collaboration, innovation, productivity, and culture.
- Field-based or Remote-by-design: Ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients, or business partners and attend meetings as directed is an essential job function.
