Director, State Government Affairs
About the role
DaVita Inc. (NYSE: DVA), a FORTUNE 500® company and leading provider of kidney care in the United States, is seeking a Director of State Government Affairs to join the government affairs team. This individual will assist in managing the company's legislative and regulatory priorities, reporting to the Senior Director of State Government Affairs and working closely with the broader DaVita State Government Affairs team, including the Group Vice President of State Government Affairs. The role manages DaVita's state policy initiatives and ensures the company's interests are represented before appropriate state legislative and regulatory entities in the Southeast region of the U.S. The position provides leadership, management, and coordination of the enterprise's state public policy activities and requires an individual with strong public policy and government affairs experience. This position will manage external state lobby teams representing DaVita.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Senior Director, State Government Affairs to help manage the company's state public policy initiatives in the Southeast Region.
- Analyze state legislative and regulatory threats and opportunities and help execute on strategies to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
- Assist in drafting necessary advocacy materials and other resources needed to drive state policy campaigns and initiatives (superior written and verbal skills required).
- Provide leadership to senior management, offering guidance and direction on public policy matters.
- Assist in managing the external lobby team, including engagement and tracking of relevant legislation and regulations affecting the company.
- Work with the broader DaVita State Government Affairs team to establish and execute long-term strategic goals and manage implementation to achieve organizational public policy goals.
- Work with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and community organizations to ensure that DaVita is a valued community resource and partner.
- Assist in the creation and execution of political giving strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of public policy and/or state government affairs experience
- Health care policy background and knowledge preferred
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead highly leveraged state advocacy campaigns and initiatives
- Self-motivated, with the ability to manage several high-profile issues at once
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
Pay
The salary range for this role is $129,000.00 - $205,000.00/year. Compensation for the role depends on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
